The film follows Niki, a piano tuner afflicted with hyperacusis, a heightened sensitivity to sound. When his mentor falls ill and has medical debt, Niki pays the debt by safe-cracking by ear for a criminal gang. Over time, Niki, enemies, friends, and others suffer as a result of his well-intentioned actions.
