What We Thought
I grew up on Jackass so I thought Jackass: Best and Last was a good way to go out. Like the show and previous movies there are bits that are better than others and bits that are grosser than the rest. It also might be the most homo-erotic movie of 2026.
The film is a combination of new stunts/pranks, cast interviews, previously released bits that are sort of their greatest hits and segments that never saw the light of day because the network or studio was too scared to put it out there or in some cases, the authorities were involved. One of the earliest bits the crew made for MTV sees Johnny Knoxville dressing up as an escaped prisoner trying to buy a saw to cut his handcuffs off and the cops showed up. MTV couldn’t air it, but now fans can finally catch it.
Along with the laugh out loud pranks and the absolutely disgusting, make yourself puke parts is a lot of heart. There are clips of the late Ryan Dunn who passed in 2011. Bam Margera is only seen in older footage because of legal disagreements he had with them, but it’s still nice to see some of the original Jackass crew. You also see guys like Steve-O and Johnny Knoxville grappling with their own mortality questioning whether or not they are even capable of doing what they are about to do. The show has been around long enough that the audience has grown old with them as well and understand we don’t bounce back as quickly or we break things a lot easier now.
If you aren’t a fan of Jackass then Jackass: Best and Last isn’t for you. I can’t see too many people jumping into this flick without knowing anything about the crew, what they do and how far they push the envelope. I can’t see too many people who aren’t fans interested in seeing a bunch of their schlongs and crapping themselves after taking colonoscopy medicine. Yes that happens and it’s as gross as it sounds. But if you are a fan and haven’t caught it yet I definitely recommend adding it to your collection.
