Agatha Christie: Murder is Easy
Follows Luke Fitzwilliam, as he finds himself on the trail of a serial killer after meeting Miss Pinkerton on a train to London. Now Fitzwilliam must find the killer before any more blood will be shed.
What We Thought:
Agatha Christie: Murder is Easy is a two-episode mini-series based on Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy book. It’s been adapted multiple times before, but this 2023 adaptation changes Luke Fitzwilliam to Nigerian born Luke Obiako Fitzwilliam played by David Jonsson (the next Black Panther).
Fitzwilliam still meets Miss Lavinia Pinkerton on the train and she still tells him about the murders in Wychwood-Under-Ashe where he eventually goes to see if she had family and give them her winning Derby money. He sticks around trying to figure out who the killer is and more people die of “accidents” while he’s there.
Each episode is around an hour each and I feel like I’ve seen at least one adaptation before. I definitely felt like I had seen something similar when it opens with them meeting on the train. Him being Nigerian is new, but I know the story had been loosely adapted in a Miss Marple series.
I like Agatha Christie stories so I didn’t mind Agatha Christie: Murder is Easy. You can definitely tell they changed things for a newer audience though. The first episode is a lot tighter as the bodies pile up and the mystery starts to unravel. The second episode tries to keep you guessing with a red herring suspect, but you can guess it wasn’t going to be that person. If you like Agatha Christie adaptations give it a spin.
