Man, what a past few weeks it’s been. After the article regarding the cyber bullying going on within World of Warcraft’s server, Moon Guard, I then became the subject to a monumental amount of cyber bullying (getting quite a chuckle at people who thought they were intimidating) but unfortunately all good things must come to an end and I had to get back to work! So, let’s go over the past two weeks and all the excitement it held!
Monster Hunter: World
Monster Hunter: World finally graced our consoles. I actually purchased a Playstation 4 to enjoy this game in its most beautiful form. I personally played Monster Hunter 4: Ultimate and Monster Hunter: World is a brilliant console adaptation of the genre. This franchise had a huge following in Japan but struggled with western audiences and Monster Hunter: World brings more of a western influence to the series. There are a total of 14 different weapon types to use, an exhaustive amount of armors and creatures to slay so Monster Hunter: World will keep you going with the grind to better your gear to kill tougher beasts.
This game is not a hack and slash until the beast is dead however, you need to pick your attacks and go in when it’s the best for you. I liken the combat to a Dark Souls mindset. If you go in with just slicing and dicing tactics, you may just become the prey. Use things like traps, vantage points and dodging to ensure that your hunter can eventually ascend to being the Apex Predator. With so many weapons to master, so many beasts to slay at varying difficulties and so many monster parts to grind for to craft that sweet armor you want, Monster Hunter: World is a tough game best played with 3 of your closest friends who also love to slay beasts in their living rooms.
World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth.
There I was, helping my nana with some things at her house when I received a discord message telling me that not only were Battle for Azeroth Pre-Orders live but that four new allied races were available upon pre-ordering it. Needless to say, I finished helping my nana (because I’m the best grandson in the world) rushed home and sat in a que for hours to pre-order my copy of WoW’s newest expansion. And later that night after having $150 taken out of my bank account because of two failed attempts of purchasing the expansion, I was able to log in and be met with all my characters gone. It seemed Blizzard did not anticipate the heavy loads of traffic that their servers would experience upon releasing four new races into the World of Warcraft. IF you procrastinated like me, you didn’t meet the reputation requirements for the new Lightforged or Void Elf race, but it took me about 4 days of hard grinding to get to exalted with the Army of the Light to unlock the Lightforged and I’m about halfway to exalted for the Void Elf unlocks.
PAX East!
Funny thing about PAX East, it’s almost here! That’s right, April 5th is almost upon us and The Nerds Templar will be there conducting interviews, play testing games and overall just experiencing all the awesome games and experiences available. I know I always look forward to the indie developers as they literally build what they envision, no higher ups to listen to, just passion. Last year I spent nearly all my time with indie developers and I don’t regret a moment of it. This year is going to be bigger than previous years with the addition of a fourth day, because four days of PAX is the only thing better than three days of PAX!
For Honor:
I just got this game after it had been out for a year. Solid game, worth the twenty bucks I paid for it.
Destiny 2:
It seems that most of the prominent Destiny 2 streamers and Youtubers are moving away from the franchise, most actually moving on to Monster Hunter: World. With all the problems that Bungie has faced with Destiny 2, and their continued failures with the title, it seems that Destiny is losing more players than ever before, which is sad. I was a massive fan of Destiny 1 and its path to greatness but Destiny 2 became the hen that doesn’t belong in the fox house (or something like that).
That’s been what I’ve noticed going on the past 2 week, did I miss something? Let me know in the comments down below! Have a great day and stay classy!
