The Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group, Inc.is answering the siren call of summer with the return of their wine and appetizer pairing special, “Summer’s Calling,” which features wines by The Calling and two of Smith & Wollensky’s most popular starters.

Available beginning June 28th through August, Smith & Wollensky locations in the following cities will feature a complimentary appetizer selection of Ribeye Carpaccio or Tuna Tartare for every two glasses of The Calling’s wine ordered: Boston, Chicago, Houston and Miami Beach. For the Columbus location, the appetizer will be offered for $1, as part of this appetizer and wine pairing promotion.

Sourced and made from some of the most prestigious vineyards and winemakers in Sonoma County, The Calling is a wine owned by Emmy award-winning CBS Lead Sports Commentator Jim Nantz, who has called the greatest sporting events of his generation, and Peter Deutsch of Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits.

This summer, we are proud to partner with The Calling Winery from Sonoma County. We are excited to feature both the Dutton Ranch Chardonnay and the Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Both are terrific summer offerings and their expressiveness and approachability make them perfect pairings for our Signature Tuna Tartare and Rib Eye Carpaccio.”

The Calling’s wine selections include the following, with tasting notes:

  • Russian River Valley Dutton Ranch Chardonnay a rich and smooth wine with subtle hints of oak and crisp flavors of Meyer lemon, honeydew melon and juicy white nectarine.
  • Russian River Valley Pinot Noir a delicious red boasting the classic flavors of fresh cherries, mushrooms and spice that are framed by rich acidity, delicate texture and powdery tannins.

The Calling’s Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are exquisite matches for Smith & Wollensky’s classic Ribeye Carpaccio (dry-aged Double R Ranch Prime rib cap, arugula, parmesan, lemon oil) and Tuna Tartare (avocado, cucumber, ponzu, lotus root chip). Impeccably light and approachable, each wine is delicate enough to accompany the elegant nature of the tuna while retaining a level of complexity to provide a strong backbone for the robustly flavorful ribeye. Perfect for happy hour with friends on one of Smith & Wollensky’s picturesque patios or as a first course in a steak dinner for two, guests can enjoy the Summer’s Calling pairings for a limited time this season.
