What We Thought:

I wasn’t a huge fan of The Hunger Games franchise, but I can admit it looks amazing in 4K. I thought so little of the first three films that I didn’t bother seeing the last one until now.

Obviously there are a lot of fans out there because the franchise made billions so what I think is pretty irrelevant. You probably know whether or not you’re a fan already. If you are, this collection is a must own.

The films look pristine perfect in 4K. They are flawless looking. The costuming and colors are sharp and crisp. They really dress up Jennifer Lawrence in the Capitol and her wardrobe looks stunning. Same for Elizabeth Banks’ crazy costumes. 4K coloring to me is just amazing.

Same for the audio. The films have a big score and lots of action and it sounds perfect. From the fighting in the actual Games to the train to the rebel fighting, audio is loud and in your face. You’ll hear every whistle throughout your room.

Plus these new 4K films are jam-packed with bonus features. Seriously, look at the list below. All kinds of featurettes, commentaries, making ofs, you name it. Plus the Philip Seymour Hoffman tribute is really good. I actually like the bonus features more than the films themselves because I learn more from watching them compare to the YA love triangle.

Even if you already own The Hunger Games franchise, if you own a 4K TV and player, the upgrade to 4K is worth it. The films look outstanding and have so much extra features it’s worth the investment. If you are going to own these movies, this is the way to go. Highly recommend the upgrade.
