Gone are the days of building a LEGO® creation and having to rely on imagination to see it fly. Flybrix, launches the first ever crash-friendly, rebuildable drone made of LEGO® bricks to give kids (14+) and kids at heart a chance to build, fly, crash and rebuild their creations while honing STEM skills in the process.

Unlike most drones, Flybrix is durable and built to embrace the crash so that anyone from novice to expert tinkerers can learn from the rebuilding and flying process. Limited only by the creator’s imagination, Flybrix takes 15 minutes or less to build and includes all the materials needed to build drones including the following:

  • Assorted LEGO® bricks

  • Eight quick-connect custom boom-arm motors and propellers

  • One surprise minifig pilot

  • One pre-programmed arduino compatible open-source flight control circuit board

  • Instruction manual and Flybrix configuration software

  • Bluetooth flight control app (Available in both Apple iTunes and Google Play Stores)

  • Accessories, batteries, connectors, USB cords, prop wrench etc.

Plus, Flybrix provides 10 ready-to-play games like Battle Bricks, a game designed to practice controlled flying and strategic building, so that new and experienced pilots can challenge each other while they learn.

“Flying toy drones is fun, but when you can use your imagination and make your own drone from LEGO bricks and fly it – that’s an amazing thrill,” said Flybrix’s Chief Play Officer Holly Kasun. “We embrace the trial and error process for learning because that’s where the ‘a-ha’ breakthroughs happen. The experience of building, flying, crashing and rebuilding as a creative way for parents, kids and teachers to harness the power of play to learn tech and engineering’ – that’s our goal.”

Flybrix is the “love-child” of LEGO® and today’s advanced drone technology. The unique hands-on platform encourages the development of critical skills without relying on iPads, computers and phone screens. It teaches the hard-skills of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), physics, geometry, aerodynamics, electrical engineering, and design. Plus Flybrix cultivates essential soft-skills like creative problem solving and teamwork through encouraging creators to experience trial and error.
