Hey everyone, your favorite video game reviewer here trying his hand at something new. As I was going through my daily (more like hourly) YouTube binge, I was caught by the dreaded advertisement filter and was forced to watch a full movie trailer. As the trailer for Collateral Beauty began, Will Smith’s dulcet tones graced my ears. I was surprised that a new Will Smith film would be hitting the big screen so soon after Suicide Squad, but I was also excited! The trailer opens with Will Smith explaining that there are 3 things that connect every single human being. Those 3 things are Love, Time and Death. We all long for love, we all want more time and we all fear death. These opening words tugged on my curiosity as to what this movie was really about so instead of pressing the now available skip button, I chose to watch on.

The music they chose for this trailer fit really well for about the first minute. After that it gave the movie a romantic comedy vibe rather than a father dealing with his daughter’s death. The literal description of the movie is:

When a successful New York advertising executive (Will Smith) experiences a deep personal tragedy and retreats from life entirely, his colleagues devise a drastic plan to force him to confront his grief in a surprising and profoundly human way.”

Throughout the trailer Will Smith meets the very concepts he spoke about. He meets death, time and love. I personally hope that these people aren’t really supposed to be these cosmic forces, that would be a tad too tough to swallow for me. While the trailer did seem to have a few quirks, from a editing perspective, it was still good enough to watch a few times. This movie seems to offer a unique spin on how we, as people, cope with tragic losses. I look forward to seeing this film when it hits theaters on December 16th. Check out the trailer below!
