Synopsis:
Jonny Lee Miller portrays the iconic detective Sherlock Holmes, and Lucy Liu captivates as his legendary investigating partner Dr. Joan Watson in the modern-day drama, Elementary: The Fourth Season. In the latest season, Holmes struggles to maintain his sobriety and attempts to keep his sanity despite the looming threat of a prison sentence. Meanwhile, the crime-solving duo continues to crack some of the NYPD’s toughest cases when old enemies resurface, former files are reopened and new crimes run rampant close to home. Yet, the biggest obstacle the duo must face follows the unexpected arrival of Sherlock’s estranged father, Morland Holmes (John Noble). Does he hold their best interest at heart or is he scheming for something far bigger than all of them combined?
What We Thought:
I watched the first season of Elementary when it originally aired, but for some reason from season 2 onward I’ve watched it when it hit DVD. I like the show, I just don’t know how I got behind on it.
Season 4 was pretty solid. The “will they/won’t they” is finally over. Some shows can live off that (The X-Files), but I’m glad season 4 reeled it in and made it official. Their dynamic works better now that it’s “official”.
Plus what I like best about season 4 is the addition of John Noble. Noble is an amazing actor who crushed it on Fringe and having him play Sherlock’s father is just genius. Noble’s addition almost makes the show new again because of his performance and his character.
Some season 4 stories include Sherlock and Watson working with the NYPD again, a doppelgänger homicide, Watson working with the FBI, the Russian billionaire murder, the mushroom murders (which might be the funniest episode), and the college selfie murder.
If you’ve been a fan/watcher so far, Elementary Season 4 is a must watch. The addition of Noble really worked for me and the show continues to have great acting and writing. Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu make a good combo and the show succeeds because of that. Because of all that, Season 4 is…
