Synopsis:

EeBee the Evil Bong is back and she’s stoner… er… stronger than ever. With Larnell, Sarah Leigh, Rabbit, Velicity and a lobotomized Gingerdead Man trapped in her dastardly web of weed, The Bong World, for good, she once more sets about her plan of world domination. This time, one toke at a time. EeBee has outsmarted everybody who has outsmarted her. She teleports our hesher heroes back to earth to sell her magic ganja. But our bevy of baked soldiers, with the help of Hambo, the Badass Dolls and tons of surprises, have plans of their own and wage full-on guerilla weedfare. It’s up to our dopes to figure out Eebee’s new rules and stop her before humanity goes up in smoke. In the end, will our waster warriors celebrate with a HIGH-5? Or will they be down low and too slow?

What We Thought:

I have been a long time fan of Full Moon and their various film series. Out of all the Full Moon films I have seen, this is one where you really needed to have seen previous ones. Unfortunately I have never seen an Evil Bong film before. It basically starts with a conversation between 3 characters (Larnell, Sarah Leigh, and Velicity) that assumes you have seen the previous film, it goes a bit too long, and is mostly boring, besides a few horrible yet amusing word plays. The conversation does help to move the plot along, and give at least a little info to me about what is happening. Apparently, the world they are trapped in, they have escaped before, and now the ways they have found to escape in the past are not usable, and they must go talk to Rabbit.  They find Rabbit, and Gingerdead Man, playing Twister with a busty, topless blonde, well more like watching her play Twister by herself.

Now, Full Moon is known for its crossovers between the various series, and their recurring characters, so I had hope maybe characters would show up that I have seen in other things, so I didn’t feel completely left out. Of course, all the ones they ended up using are the ones I am less familiar with. The Gingerdead Man is the first of such characters to pop up, he comes from his own The Gingerdead Man series, and I have only seen the first film from that series, and in this one he is voiced by a different actor (Gary Busey voiced him in the first one), and he behaves differently. So no luck here.

The  trio have another, longer than need be conversation with Rabbit, in which he tries to show them his “Nothing Head” technique, which is how he gets answers. Right after,  Eebee shows up. Another conversation that feels a little too long. I like the little puppet bong. It is a simple, but neat puppet. She tells the group she is sending Rabbit, Gingerdead Man, and Larnell out to the real world to sell her magical weed, to make the one million dollars she needs for her newest world domination scheme.  She will be keeping Sarah Leigh and Velicity prisoner, where they will be tortured by the Poonishers, a pair of lesbians played by porn stars. Despite being talked of as being aggressive, they just lap dance, tickle and tease the ladies, all while topless. If that is torture, I might move to The Bong World.

The men get to the real world, and appear in a shop full of  small bongs that look like Eebee, and a lot of pot. What then follows is a long time of them looking around the shop and trying to decide what they are going to do. Somewhere in here Larnell actually talks about making a call to Killjoy’s Psycho Circus (a reference to Full Moon’s Killjoy films, of which I have seen and own most of, and Killjoy’s Psycho Circus happens to be the title of the most recent one in the series), this made me actually react out loud.  This long section of hmm-hawwing is interrupted by the appearance of what turns out to be Larnell’s grandfather, who I guess had been in previous Evil Bong films. What follows is another long conversation, with the grandfather slinging many insults at Larnell (a lot of them were pretty funny, but overly elaborate), and eventually he leaves, and by the end you realize that scene really had no bearing on the film.

After that, many different, odd characters make appearances, many of which I gather are from other Evil Bong films. Peppered throughout are lots of conversations featuring more bad wordplays and puns, as well as Rabbit using his Nothing Head technique to get answers. We also see a device called the Weed Blower, which looks like a modified leaf blower, used several times, and I am guessing it is another recurring thing from the other Evil Bong films. One character, Hambo, shows up with his newest enterprise, Bad Ass Dolls, and the movie becomes a commercial for the Bad Ass Dolls, which are a real line by Full Moon, and even the web address, www.badassdolls.com gets repeated on screen. I found this quite humorous, it actually made me laugh out loud. This also ends up leading to a brief cameo by Ooga Booga, from Doll Graveyard, which I have seen, and his own spin-off film Ooga Booga, which I haven’t seen. Then throughout the movie, as certain clichéd, stereotypical and potentially offensive characters show up, Hambo gets pictures of them for inspirations for his various Bad Ass Dolls, then we get a close up, product shot of the corresponding Bad Ass Doll. Even though the synopsis (which I copied up above from press materials I was given) says  “with the help of Hambo”, he doesn’t really seem to aid the situation. From time to time the movie cuts back to the ladies over in The Bong World, showing them slowly gaining the upper hand on the Poonishers, in an attempt to find a way to escape.

The movie continues like this, up to finale, during which Gingerdead Man reverts back to how he used to be (only still without Gary Busey’s voice), the ladies make their move and escape, and we get a big payoff on Rabbit’s Nothing Head technique.

Despite this barely 70 minute movie consisting of a lot of long, directionless conversations, and mixes of over-the-top hammy acting and kind of flat wooden acting, and the lack of warfare, or guerilla weedfare, as the quoted synopsis says, I found it mostly humorous and enjoyable. It also makes me want to watch the previous 4 films, especially as, after the credits, it tells us to watch for Evil Bong 666.

I recommend it to fans of Full Moon movies, people who like bad wordplays and puns, fans of the Evil Bong series, and anyone who likes stoner films. Whatever you do, just make sure you watch the previous films first!
