Synopsis:

SHEEP SKIN is a gritty and realistic take on the werewolf sub-genre. The film centers around a group of friends in a punk rock band, who kidnap a business man because they believe he is actually a werewolf hiding in plain sight. The group takes the man to a nearby warehouse, where they have one night to prove that their suspicions are true. As the night goes on, tensions mount and the group begins to question their own motives. Are they right about the man’s true identity, or have they made a terrible and deadly mistake?

What We Thought:

I really wanted to like Sheep Skin. Good werewolf films are few and far between and man does that DVD artwork look amazing.

Unfortunately it’s more a kidnapping drama than a werewolf film. There is a werewolf, but the bulk of the film takes place in a warehouse type building with one guy tied up and the others trying to get information out of him.

It takes forever for any twist or revelation to happen and by then I don’t think I cared. You don’t know much about the characters or the one person who was killed so why do I care if anyone gets justice or if the truth comes out? Hint, I didn’t.

It’s a shame too because one the special effects part kicked in, it was pretty cool. There was good gore and blood and killings. I wish the movie was more of that and less talking.

I don’t know if werewolf or horror fans will like it either. It takes way too long for anything to happen which is shocking considering the movie is only 80 minutes long in the first place. Maybe they couldn’t afford the special effects or something, but it should have been closer to 40 or more minutes of effects and 10-30 minutes in the warehouse.

The DVD of Sheep Skin has a ton of special features including a Black & White version of the film. I wish I liked the movie more to really recommend it. Some people might like it, but I wish more of what happened in the ending happened throughout the film.

GOOD ATTEMPT, NOT A GREAT FINAL PRODUCT!
