Synopsis:
Whore – Author Ricki visits her family’s secluded cabin to start writing he new novel – but along the way she catches the eye of a group of local criminals, who turn her visit into a living nightmare of violence… and violation. Though left for dead, Ricki’s ultimate revenge has just begun as she hunts, traps and kills each of her captors one by one. In the tradition of the I Spit on Your Grave series.
Bunni – A group of teens explore an abandoned factory at the request of one of their friends – but little do they know he is leading them to a slighter at the hands of his mentally deranged mother.
What We Thought:
I’m grouping Whore and Bunni together because they are similar films. They both have women at their core and are both revenge flicks.
I really wanted to like Whore. It has parts that are great, but it takes forever for anything to really happen. It wants to be I Spit on Your Grave, but they spend at least 75% of the movie building to the revenge.
It’s very graphic which I’m fine with, but others might not be. There’s a lot graphic rape and gore and some viewers might have a hard time with it. But then again the name of the movie is Whore so you probably aren’t the easily offended type if you are interested in a movie named Whore. The last part of the movie is great, I just wish it didn’t take so long to get there.
Bunni is a revenge flick to a degree. A bunch of kids go into a factory that was abandoned. It sold sex toys and costumes and weird stuff. Of course there’s one guy you want to see killed immediately which is a good thing.
Bunni is decent and has some good kills, but there isn’t much originality to it. There’s a twist you see coming, but overall there’s enough of what you want/need in a horror film. You root to see people die. It has some good blood and at 70 minutes, it never loses focus of what it set out to do.
I liked Bunni more than Whore, but I can see Whore becoming more of a cult favorite. It’s from Europe, it’s a lot more dark and violent, but to me Bunni was the better overall picture. It was quick and held my attention throughout. But if you like horror especially B-movie horror, they are…
