  • The Jungle Book – When little Mowgli toddles into the heart of the Seeonee Wolf Pack, the jungle is never the same. Mowgli is hated by the evil tiger, Shere Khan, who vows to destroy him. With the help of the big-hearted bear, Baloo, and the wise panther, Bagheera, the boy learns the language of the wild and the secrets of Jungle Law. He even wins the friendship of Kaa the Python and helps to outwit the sneaky Bander-Log monkeys! But it will take more than a few tricks to protect himself and his friends from danger.
  • Snow White – Enjoy the enchanting fairy tale that’s “the fairest of them all” in this animated treasure that’s packed with magical surprises and spellbinding suspense. The loveliest girl in all the land, Snow White is hated by her wicked stepmother, the Queen, who will stop at nothing to destroy her, but seven funny little dwarves become her happy new family. The power of true love stops the Queen’s horrible magic, while Snow White’s kindness and gentle heart prevail over evil and jealousy in this spirited version of one of the best-loved fairy tales of all time.
  • Alice In Wonderland – It’s a whimsical romp through Wonderland when Alice falls down the rabbit hole and finds herself in a strange land filled with a fabulous menagerie of curious characters! Soon, Alice joins the March Hare and Mad Hatter for a wacky tea party, gets advice from the Cheshire Cat and ultimately encounters the Queen of Hearts herself in a crazy game of croquet. Beautifully animated, this contemporary adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale is filled with magic, fun and madcap adventure for the whole family!
  • Beauty and the Beast – An old man gets lost in the forest and finds a magnificent castle. For his daughter he cuts a rose from the rose bushes in the castle gardens — but a horrible beast appears and tells him that he must die for having cut the rose. The old man tells about the request of his daughter, Beauty, and the Beast says that he must return home and bring his daughter to die instead. Beauty insists on being the one who must die and arrives at the castle, but instead, she develops a great friendship with the once terrible beast – friendship that eventually turns to love.

What We Thought:

  • One of the first rules of marketing is strike while the iron is hot. With this animated collection, they are definitely trying to play off the hit film The Jungle Book and I have no issue with that!
  • This is a four film collection of animated movies for your family. We have seen all of these stories done before. Disney has put them all out before, but the stories themselves aren’t just owned by Disney so don’t confuse these with that company.
  • Even though they aren’t the Disney versions, families will easily enjoy them. First is The Jungle Book. It may not be the huge CGI hit currently at the theater, but the characters are still there and this is a lot safer for younger kids. Mowgli is still the focus and the film does look good. I actually prefer this style of animation over CGI/special effects.
  • Also in this collection is Snow White. Again, not the Disney version, but if your kids like Snow White, they’ll like this. It’s a quick and safe way to introduce the characters to your kids.
  • Same for Alice in Wonderland. This isn’t live action nor does it star Johnny Depp, but the story is the same and it’s a lot less creepier for younger audience members!
  • This also comes with Beauty and the Beast. Also not the Disney version and definitely not the old TV version with Ron Perlman.
  • All four of these family friendly films come in under an hour. You can pop these in and know your kids aren’t seeing anything they shouldn’t be seeing. They aren’t scary or offensive. They are light and they are familiar stories with familiar characters and there’s nothing wrong with that. If you can’t afford the other ones, this Mill Creek collection will definitely fill the void and is way cheaper to buy.
