Synopsis:
- Welcome to Greens & Grains. Where the employees are fried and the management is scrambled.
- When he inherits his father’s family-owned grocery store, Greens & Grains, young Leslie Pool’s (Lehr) hands-on, open communication approach to store management soon alienates him from his misfit employees. Despite Pool’s determination to prove he can do things his own way, chaos ensues, spawning a comedy of errors with a host of quick-witted characters and their outrageous relationships.
What We Thought:
- I remember seeing commercials for 10 Items or Less years back when it first aired, but I never actually watched it. Watching it now, I wish I had then because it wasn’t a bad little show.
- Don’t get me wrong, it’s far from groundbreaking television. It definitely wants to feel like The Office and had punch lines/scenarios that felt similar to Employee of the Month.
- But it’s entertaining enough and has relatable characters. Of course like every sitcom, you like some characters more than others, but that’s the point.
- I think the show’s major issue is that it had zero star power. There’s not one “big” name actor in it. Sure, I may have heard of these people, but if you want people to tune in to your show, especially a comedy, they need to know/see a familiar face.
- From looking it up, this collection has an unaired third season which is great for fans. Ratings must not have been high enough to even show already produced episodes which is a shame because they are just as good as the first two seasons.
- It looks like 10 Items or Less has been available on DVD before, but this Mill Creek Entertainment collection has every episode. Of course the price can’t be beat for a complete series package like this. If you liked the show and don’t already own it or don’t have the unaired episodes, definitely grab this.
